Hello, I'm Anu
Certified yoga instructor, community teacher, and founder of Wellness with Anu. I've been teaching for over a decade. And I'm grateful for every opportunity to share these practices with others.
More than a decade on the mat
My name is Anupma Mangla, and I've been teaching yoga for over ten years. But my relationship with the practice began long before that, as a student looking for something that would quiet my mind and bring me back to my body.
Yoga did that, and so much more. And from the moment I began sharing it with others, I knew this was the work I was meant to do.
I trained as a certified instructor through a Yoga Alliance-accredited program and have spent the years since deepening my knowledge through continued education, specialized training, and most importantly, thousands of hours of teaching real people with real lives.
Wellness with Anu grew from a simple conviction: that yoga should be available to everyone. Not just the young, the fit, the flexible. Everyone.
What drives my work
The thing that keeps me returning to the mat, and to the front of the room, is witnessing transformation. Not dramatic, overnight transformation. The quiet, accumulating kind.
A student who comes in hunched with tension and leaves standing just a little taller. An older adult who says, for the first time in years, that their back doesn't hurt. Someone who shows up terrified and nervous, and three months later can't imagine a week without class.
That's why, a few years ago, I started teaching yoga in the local community as part of the San Jose library programs, completely free and completely open. These community classes aren't just about yoga. They're about showing up for people who might otherwise not have access to wellness spaces. About building relationships. About saying, with your presence: you matter, your body matters, and you belong here.
Those community classes are some of my most meaningful work. And they remind me, every time, of why I started.

Teaching philosophy
Four principles guide everything I do, whether in the studio, at the library, or in private sessions.
Accessibility
Yoga belongs to every body, regardless of age, flexibility, fitness level, or experience. I actively work to remove barriers, whether physical, financial, or psychological.
Whole-Person Wellness
I teach yoga as a complete practice: physical postures, yes, but also breathwork, mindfulness, rest, and an understanding of how the practice connects to daily life.
Community
My deepest belief is that wellness is something we cultivate together. The relationships formed in class, the encouragement and shared effort, are part of the practice.
Compassion Over Perfection
There is no perfect pose, no perfect practice. I teach from a place of deep compassion for where students are today, and curiosity about where they might grow.
Let's practice together
Whether you're brand new to yoga or returning after a long break, I'd love to welcome you into the Wellness with Anu community.
